DMJM's six decades of service to the U.S. Department of Defense began with runway design at U.S. Air Force Bases in post-World War II Japan and extends to our current operation and maintenance activities at Camp Doha in Kuwait. DMJM has completed successful projects for the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard. Since 1990, we have provided program and construction management for the Department of Defense headquarters, the Pentagon, restoring secure 24/7 operations to 6.5 million square feet and moving more than 25,000 employees.
With almost sixty years of contracts for services that span all three of our practices, DMJM has excelled at the delivery of fast track and specialized military facilities. Beyond traditional planning, architecture, engineering design and construction support services, our specialty areas include the following:
- Design of mission-critical power systems, high voltage power distribution to the point of use, fully automated emergency generators utilizing UPS for particular critical project elements supporting telecommunications and security.
- Physical security systems, including FEBR (force entry/ballistic resistant) design, CBR (chemical/biological/radiological) filtration, air distribution systems that provide facility pressurization and contaminant containment modes.
- SCIFs (secure compartmentalized information facilities)
- Security and life safety engineering, including physical and electronic security systems and monitor, alarm and control systems; threat assessment and vulnerability analysis, and security engineering consulting for mission-critical security infrastructure.
DMJM's defense-oriented design awards include the Department of Defense Award for Excellence in Design, Air Force Civil Engineer's Award for Design Excellence and the U.S. Air Force Honor Award for Concept Design Excellence.
