DMJM established its justice group 25 years ago as an outgrowth of our work with government clients at the federal, state, and local levels. Justice projects are a vital component of our firm, and in 2003, DMJM was recognized as the nation's #1 corrections design firm. DMJM's broad range of professional services address every building type in the justice market, including courthouses, police administration facilities, jails, detention/corrections facilities, rehabilitation facilities, public safety and emergency operations centers.

The justice system is an interconnected network of agencies, each seeking to ensure that proper justice is served in an efficient and timely matter. DMJM's ability to build consensus among various stakeholders is based on credibility, objectivity, and a client-intensive approach. DMJM has completed minimum-, medium-, and maximum-security security jail and detention center projects for federal, state and local agencies throughout the U.S. In addition, our courthouse design expertise encompasses new, renovated and historically significant projects. These facilities reflect the tradition of American justice, responding to cultural and physical context with designs that address security, flexibility and efficiency.

As part of our justice work, DMJM has developed strong expertise in Public Safety and Emergency Operations Centers. We are skilled in creating environments that meet demanding operational requirements and withstand natural disasters to provide continuous operation. Our team also provides analyses for possible exposure to terrorism or related threats, providing appropriate sensing and mitigation systems such as elements for life support and redundant power sources.
