Citibank Global Consumer Bank was located in seven leased buildings throughout downtown Buenos Aires. High rents, small work areas, lack of parking, traffic congestion and travel time between buildings helped Citibank decide to consolidate all facilities in one site on the outskirts of the city in the San Isidro area. The new 43,200 M² (465,000 square feet) site contained four buildings and an athletic field. The construction was divided into three phases. The first phase consisted of the remodeling of a 4,000 M² (43,055 square feet) two story building for data, communications and a training center. Phase II called for a new, 19,295 M² (207,689 square feet) three-story office building constructed in place of a demolished building. The remaining two existing buildings were converted into a warehouse and recreational facilities in Phase III. DMJM (Spillis Candela DMJM) provided master planning, programming, architecture, engineering and interior design services for the project. |
