AECOM Government Services (AGS), formerly a division of DMJM, led a joint venture formed for the U.S. Antarctic Program. Services included utilities maintenance and operations, construction, scientific equipment maintenance and calibration, and communications in support of up to 2,500 personnel. Working in a challenging environment, AGS maintained complex equipment valued at millions of dollars to exacting standards, managed a scope of work that doubled in size, and was responsible for more 1.5-million-square feet of facilities consisting of 200 buildings or structures. The scope of work included complex equipment and vehicle maintenance—scientific equipment operation and maintenance including procurement, logistics, supply, and inventory—and strict accountability for facilities, equipment, and other capital assets. Scientific missions by the NSF, NASA, Department of Defense, and other research agencies and institutions were supported and AGS provided communications systems to support information transfer, including the GOES-2 Satellite Communications South Pole System, Unattended Satellite Earth Station, Microwave Digital Communications System, and Digital Video Teleconferencing, via satellite and terrestrial systems. AGS provided a variety of security services including ingress/egress control, fire and life safety design, and network, and communications protection. |
